HOW TO: Avoid Eating Junk Food

by - November 29, 2013

Have you ever felt guilty when you have gotten the sudden urge to eat something sloppy and greasy? The shame alone was a lot, but now you've gotten a couple of zits that remind you of how you broke the promise  made to yourself. Well, you aren't alone. I did that, too. Bless me father for I have sinned for I broke my promise.
Okay, I don't judge you. College life can be very harsh, and sometimes, we fall off the wagon. It's okay, it happens. But sometimes, some geniuses "compensate" by working out more, and eating less. Ha! fools, I say. Here are some pointers that may help you to avoid eating junk food.

I do not own this image
1. Drink 4 liters of water a day
Well, I have been drinking 3 liters of water a day, and let me tell you, I have been eating junk a LOT LESS than I usually did! Turns out I misinterpreted thirst for hunger and thus, was eating stuff when I actually wanted some water! Try it!

2. Eat something healthy instead
Carry a handful of peanuts, or perhaps some cashews, almonds, etc. along with you and believe me, your want to eat something sloppy and greasy will just disappear. Why? Because Junk food contains sugar and fat which gives your body instant energy.

3. Do your research
So, let's say you love chocolates, Google how chocolates are made, and the ingredients used. Google will show you data from the USA and  other developed countries, and it ain't pretty. Always remember that junk food, and packaged food has preservatives which are really harmful for your body.
The USA has FDA to approve of the ingredients. There is no such strict agency in India.

4. Resist
Just resist your urge to eat junk for a few weeks and your body will stop craving it eventually.

5. Drink lemon water
Did you know drinking lemon water in the morning increases your metabolism?

6. Set goals
Set short-term goals for yourself to stay motivated to adopt a healthy lifestyle. Yes, you can have little treats once in a few weeks, but realize that you have to take care of your body for a lifetime. If you start to live a healthy life today, you will thank yourself when you get older.

Why do you want to quit eating junk food? How will you motivate yourself? Let me know in the comments below!

  2. I didn't realize there was no strict regulating agency in India. That is scary! I'm always very conscience of what "chemicals" I am at risk of digesting and to think no one regulating those things... There could be anything in your food! Girl, if you want junk food I'll mail you some FDA stuff ;) hahah.
