REVIEW: Sunsilk Co-Creation Nourishing Soft & Smooth Shampoo and Dream Soft and Smooth Conditioner

by - March 31, 2014

I have used Sunsilk shampoos all of my life, maybe because my mother used to love them. So, all of my childhood, I have used either Johnson Baby Shampoo (with not more tears formula) or various Sunsilk shampoos.

Price: Shampoo- ₹ 112 for 180 ml

           Conditioner- ₹ 56 for 90 ml

Claim: Shampoo- Sunsilk & world-class Hair Expert Thomas Taw have co-created New Sunsilk Nourishing Soft & Smooth Shampoo, infused with a unique blend of 5 Natural Oils, that deeply nourish the hair without making it look greasy or limp.
Conditioner- Sunsilk has teamed up with Thomas Taw from London, founder of BobSoho Salon, famous for resuscitating damaged hair, to co-create Sunsilk's Dream Soft and Smooth formulation for hair that is silky and soft to touch.

I have used this shampoo and conditioner before and I wasn't really a fan of it. I got this bottle and conditioner in a TRYBox and I didn't want to waste it, and plus, I hadn't really tried the "co-creation" one and I thought to myself that maybe this variant would be different than its predecessor and I am sad to say that I was wrong, this product didn't suit my hair and made them frizzy and unmanageable. I have wavy to curly hair and when this shampoo was launched, they advertised it for my hair type. Maybe it's just me, but I was really hoping that this product would work for me.

The product has a bearable smell which was neither too good nor too bad and has a really thick consistency which I didn't like. I had to dilute one part of shampoo with three parts of water down to use it. One plus is that it lathers fairly well and rinses off even better. All the time that I have used this product, even after applying oil, I have never needed to repeat, which is a great thing. It's very good at what shampoos do--clean hair. But, on the not-so-bright side it completely dried my hair out, made them frizzy and no one likes frizz!
To summarize, I think that the shampoo is a good one, but it didn't work well for my oily cum dry, frizzy cum wavy hair ( Yes, I have a VERY weird hair type. I have an extremely oily scalp--thanks to my oily to combination skin-- and very dry hair ends). I think that this shampoo would work very well for people who have extremely oily hair.

I got a full-sized conditioner bottle in my TRYbox as well, which is really good for the  400 I spent on it. The conditioner smells a little like the shampoo but bitter. It has a thick consistency and is very creamy and nice. The conditioner didn't work wonders for me (as expected) but it did make my hair a little bit more manageable but still dry as the West coast witch's broom! Maybe because I was using the conditioner with the shampoo, but it didn't really work for me at all. It didn't really make my hair dream soft and smooth which disappointed me.
I applies a coin-sized amount of conditioner onto the middle and tips of my hair. It was easy to apply it onto the hair, but the difficult part was removing it. It takes a lot of time to completely leave your hair and everyone know that leaving conditioner in your hair is very bad of them.

Pros:
Shampoo
> Smells fine
> Great consistency
> Cleans hair effectively
> Lathers well

Conditioner
> Very creamy
> Coin-sized amount is sufficient for mid-length hair
> Easy application

Cons:
Shampoo
> Very thick consistency
> Dries hair out
> Didn't suit my hair type

Conditioner
> Doesn't come off easily
> Didn't suit my hair type

  6. Don't feel bad Selina! I've experienced the same with other products. They were bad the first time and the same the second. LOL Sometimes you hope to give them a little time and pray they've changed. At least you didn't pay for these. So that's good. Your comment made me smile! I really try and become friends with my readers. I truly care about a person's life. Some people blog just for the business. Some people think I want to sell stuff. That's totally wrong. I love trying products (most of which I purchase with my own money) and just letting others know if they work or not and if something is great. I like bringing awareness to everything sweet around the world. Good luck with your exams.

  9. Thanks for this interesting review! I'm not sure if it's possible to buy this brand in Germany, but I think as I have thin and dry hair I think the shampoo wouldn't be really good for my hair ...
