REVIEW: Lakme Sun Expert Fairness and UV Lotion

by - January 15, 2016

As you all may know, sunscreen is very important and is also something I know most of us just don't have the time for! I will confess, I almost always forget applying sunscreen. A few weeks ago, I picked up the Lakme sun expert Fairness+UV lotion with SPF 25 and PA++ and I've been using it daily since and I write how I feel about it in this review for it...

Price: Rs. 325/- for 120 ml

This lotion is white in colour with a thin consistency and is very light-weight and gets easily absorbed by the skin. I am not particularly a fan of the way it smells, but then again it is better than most of the sunscreens that I have smelled over the years, it comparatively has a more of a lemon-y and it doesn't stick around for long, which is a plus in my books. The formula feels very cool when applied to the skin and I feel that its good for daily use. I usually wear it to college and I have to re-apply it once during the day, which is comparatively better than other brands that I know of.

I really like the fact that you don't need a large amount of it, since its consistency is so watery, it is easily applicable and you don't need a lot of it to apply on a certain area, this 120 ml bottle can easily last you a month or two. For me, personally, it's lasted about a month and a half since I am VERY bad at re-applying it and also, I use it on the body parts that are exposed to the sun on a given day.

I personally use it on my body and neck and not on my face; I use a Lotus cosmetics sunscreen on my face, mainly because it is gel-based, SPF-50 and PA+++ and I clearly care more about the skin of my face than that of my body. But, I have a reason for that as well! let me explain that. I am not a miser but I am a college student who is broke most of the time and the lotus sunscreen tends to burn a huge hole in my pocket. I need my pocket, it is my favourite pocket.

Anyway, I feel that this is one of the best sunscreens available in the market these days and I feel that although it is much on the pricier side, it does ultimately good to your skin and does an okay job to protect it against the sun. I would recommend that for the best results, please re-apply it after every 2-4 hours, and limit your sun exposure to 15 minutes a day. Yes, fifteen minutes. I know its too little, but that's the way it is..

Is there a sunscreen that you are absolutely in love with and I should know of? Leave comments below!

  2. Hey Rachna nice review! I have used this sunscreen but somehow Lakme sunscreens never worked for me because of their strong smell :( I think Lotus makes some of the best sunscreens.. Currently I have been using La Shield SPF 40 sunscreen on my derma's recommendation.. it is brilliant :)

  3. I think the lotus ones are better which you use on your face. I am an anti sunscreen girl. I in my childhood tried this brand . It worked for not causing sunburn. My brother currently uses it he also claims the same as me. Great review!
